U12 Shinty World Cup Final

3/7/10 at FortWilliam

Beauly 0 Newtonmore 1

Beauly took to the field on a typical FortWilliam day showers and wind ! Newtonmore settled into the game better and had the Beauly defence under pressure from the start. With 8 minutes on the clock Newtonmore took the lead when a cross field ball caught out the defence and the forward scored from the edge of the "D". This spurred the Beauly boys on and they pushed for an equaliser. Kieran MacTavish was unlucky when he unleashed a shot from 20 yards which crashed off the underside of the bar bounced on the line but stayed out. The second half was edged by Beauly but unfortunately they could not find the equaliser. Beauly played well as a team on the day and well done to all the guys.

 

U12 Shinty World Cup

6 a side 16/6/10

Beauly qualify for the showcase final to be played at the Marine Harvest Clash of The Camans at Fort William on Sat 3/7/10 where they will play Newtonmore.

The competition was a round robin league and the other teams were Glenurquhart,Newtonmore,Invergarry,Portree,Kingussie,Alvie,SpeanBridge,Kinlochbervie and Banavie. The Beauly team qualified in second place behind Newtonmore. The team came through the competition unbeaten and only conceided one goal !! The team was Craig Rankin , Andrew Morrison , Liam Symonds , Michael Wilde , Sandy Elrick , Kieran MacTavish , Robbie Brindle , Daryl Anderson , Corran MacDonald. WELL DONE GUYS !! GOOD LUCK ON THE 3RD JULY.

Newtonmore 2 Beauly 1

We left Beauly with torrential rain falling and unbelievably the rain stayed away for the whole of the match !! Beauly never really settled into the first half and with half time approaching lost two quick goals to find themselves two down at half time. The team had a stern talking too by the coach at half time and this had the desired effect. Beauly had the upper hand in the second half but could not turn it into goals. But with five minutes to go William Zibleski struck a low shot from the penalty spot low into the net. Beauly pushed for the equaliser and Sandy Elrick had two low drives that fizzed past either post. Newtonmore held on for victory. Beaulys best performers were Liam Symonds , Sandy Elrick and William Zblewski.

 

U12 IACC six a Side Cup

11/6/10 at Drumnadrochit.

Beauly fielded two teams in this competition. The format was a round robin with Tomnacross , Glenurquhart A and B and Strathpeffer. Both Beauly teams played extremely well with Beauly A coming thro unbeaten to win the cup and Beauly B taking third place behind Tomnacross. Beauly A's best performers were Craig Rankin and Kieran MacTavish. Beauly B's best performers were Liam Eaton , William Zblewski and "five Goal Scott Flynn".

Beauly 2 FortWilliam 3

The match started in very wet conditions with the players struggling to keep their feet. Fortwilliam took the lead on the 12th minute when a long range effort found the net. Beauly kept fighting for every ball and with 25 mins gone Colin MacDonald equalised with a low drive from 20 yards. The game flowed from end to end with Calum Morrison and Ryan Symonds solid at the back. FortWilliam pressed forward and took the lead on the 28th min. Fort William started the second half well with some nice passing moves and took the lead on the 48th min. This spurred Beaulys forward line into action and Kieran MacTavish struck the equaliser within two mins. The game flowed from end to end and with ten minutes left Fort William struck their third. Beauly re organised and pressed forward for the last 10 mins. Michael Wilde came close with two efforts and Calum Morrison weaved his way thro the Forts defence to fire narrowly wide. With full time approaching Colin MacDonald lofted a shot on goal the Fort William keeper pushed the ball onto the bar and somehow managed to scramble the ball for a corner. The final whistle blew. Beaulys best players were Calum Morrison , Ryan Symonds , Peter Cowman and Colin MacDonald. 

U12 Mackay Cup

Portree 3 Beauly 0

Beauly made the long trip to Portree on Friday. The journey affected the lads and they found themselves 2 down in 10 mins. Beauly settled into the game then and the match flowed from end to end. Craig Rankin in goals for Beauly produced his usual cool performance in goals and Andrew Morrison organised the defence well. Beauly started the second half at a furious pace and had Portree in their own half for long periods. Rob Brindle had an outstanding second half and came close to scoring on a number of occasions. With time running out Beauly pushed everyone forward Portree broke away and added a third with almost the last hit of the ball. The boys did the school and the village proud with their sportsmanship and good manners. Best players on the day were Rob Brindle , Craig Rankin , Andrew Morrison and Ian Rankin.

Beauly 5 Strathpeffer 3

Strathpeffer started the match really well and with 12 minutes gone found themselves 2 up. This spurred the Beauly boys on and Kieran MacTavish pulled one back after twenty minutes , with half time approaching Beauly equalised when Scott Flynn scored. The second half started with the ball going end to end and Strathpeffer scored a third. Beauly replied when Morgan Bell struck the equaliser from close range. Beaulys full forward Daryl Anderson got on the score sheet with a fine drive and Rob brindle rounded off the scoring. Beaulys best players were Rob Brindle , Andrew Morrison and Kyle Cameron.

Newtonmore 5 Beauly 0

An under strength Beauly team took to the field against Newtonmore. Beauly played with a strong wind at their backs in the first half but could not score. With half time approaching Newtonmore broke out of defence to take the lead. With the wind in their favour in the second half Newtonmore pressed forward and scored 3 goals in 6 minutes starting on the 40 min mark. With full time approaching Newtonmore added a 5th.

Beauly 1 Kingussie 4

Beauly played there first U12 league match of the season and started slowly and after 17 min found themselves a goal down. With half time approaching Kieran MacTavish pulled Beauly level with a strike from the edge of the circle. The second half  belonged to Kingussie who played some lovely one touch shinty to score a further 3 goals.

Kingussie 1 Beauly 1

Beauly travelled down to play Kingussie with three of the older players missing from the team. The match was end to end in the first 10 mins with the younger players taking a little time to settle into the match. Kieran MacTavish was causing the Kingussie defence problems with his strong tackling at full forward and came close on a couple of occasions. Kingussie looked dangerous up front but were shackled by the strong tackling Beauly defence that was made up of two sets of brothers , Ryan and Liam Symonds and Calum and Andrew Morrison. Half time came with the teams locked at 0-0. The second half was six minutes gone when Kingussie were awarded a soft free hit on the edge of the "D" and after a skirmish Kingussie took the lead. This inspired the Beauly boys to push harder for the equaliser. The coaches re organised and moved Sandy Elrick to wing forward and this paid off when he crossed into the centre and Kieran MacTavish struck the equaliser. Beauly pushed everyone forward looking for the winner and had Josh Grant in goals to thank for coming away with a point. He saved a hard struck shot going into the top corner and in the last seconds of the game Kingussie lofted the ball goal wards and Josh expertly tipped it over the bar. Well done to all the boys for their efforts. The best Beauly players on the day were Josh Grant , Calum Morrison and "Goal a Game" Kieran MacTavish.

Beauly 3 Newtonmore 0

Beauly started this match at a furious pace and had Newtonmore pegged back in their own half for long periods. Lewis Ross making his first appearance of the season at buckshee forward was taking control of the game and broke the deadlock in the 18th minute. Conner Black was pushing forward from the centre line and was denied on three occasions by some great goalkeeping by the Newtonmore keeper.As half time approached Kieran MacTavish added a second from close range. The second half was evenly contested and Cameron MacFadyen added a third after a skirmish in the "D". Conner Black continued to try his best to score but could not beat the goalkeeper !!! Beaulys best players on the night were Lewis Ross and Sandy Elrick playing his first game at wing centre for U14s.

Beauly 1 Kingussie 3

This match was the first outing for the U14s this year. Some of the players were a little rusty but soon got into the game. The first half was a very even contest and with 23 min gone Beauly took the lead when Kieran MacTavish went on a run and finished from a tight angle. The game flowed from end to end and with Calum Morrison pushing Beauly forward he was unlucky not to score when he unleashed a shot which came back of the crossbar on the 30th minute.

The second half saw Kingussie push forward and 10 mins into the half equalised with a speculative shot which bounced awkwardly in front of Josh Grant and found the corner of the net. This inspired Kingussie who quickly went three up with two fantastic shots that left Josh with no chance. Beauly pushed hard to get back into the game with Calum Morrison coming close with good efforts. The game finished 3-1 for Kingussie.

Beaulys best players on the night were Ryan Symonds at Full Back and Calum Morrison in the centre.  

 U12 Shinty training starts after the  Easter Holidays Outdoors at Braevie Park.

P2 to P5 Wednesdays 1830 till 1930

 First Shinty Festival 

Aquadome Sports Centre Inverness

Saturday 20th March

Beauly started in a section with Portree , Banavie , Milngave & Bearsden and Lochgoilhead. Beauly played some excellent shinty in the qualifiers and used there physical advantage well. They won two and drew two and qualified for the Semi finals along with Portree.

In the semi finals they faced Kingussie and ran out two goal winners.

The final was against Portree the first half was keenly contested with Beauly using there strength to push Portree into defensive mode with a combination of good saves and poor finishing it was all square at half time. The second half started brightly and Beauly took the lead with a fine strike. With the clock ticking down Skye equalized with a fine shot to take the game to extra time / golden Goal.

Unfortunately for Beauly the referee started the game and the Portree centre struck a low shot which meant the cup went to Portree.

The Beauly team played exceptionally well and they can all hold their heads high.

The team was Craig Rankin , Liam Symonds , Andrew Morrison , Kieran MacTavish , Sandy Elrick , Rob Brindle , Michael Wilde , Daryl Anderson.

ALLANMORE CUP WINNERS 2010

Congratulations to the boys who retained the Allanmore Cup on Saturday. The tournament took place at Drumnadrochit with Glenurqhart , Tennassie and Lovat taking part. Beauly came through the tournament winning all of their matches and only loosing one goal in the competition. This was due to a strong defence and some outstanding saves from Craig Rankin making his debut in goals.The team played well on the day and goals came from Sandy Elrick , Robbie Brindle, Daryl Anderson, Kieran MacTavish and Michael Wilde.

Saturday 7th November

Glenurquhart 3 Beauly 1

it was a beautiful sunny winter morning when the teams took to the field with a difficult low sun. Beauly started the game well with the sun at their backs. It was end to end stuff with some excellent shinty being played by both teams. With 20 mins on the clock Beauly took the lead when a fine pass from Colin Macdonald found Lewis Ross in space and he finished well. Beauly then had a superb 10 min spell creating chance after chance but could not score. Glenurquhart pushed forward and were kept at bay with good goalkeeping from Josh Grant and rugged defence from Calum Morrison , Peter Cowman , Ryan Symonds and Ryan Mackay. With half time approaching Ewan Brady had a long range effort which eluded three defenders and found the net to bring Glen level.

The second half started with the sun stronger and this caused major problems for the Beauly defence who could not see the ball coming at them. Glenurqhuart used this too good advantage and took the lead shortly after the restart and soon made it three. Beauly steadied the ship and created a few chances but could not reply.

Beaulys best players on the day were Ryan Symonds and Calum Morrison.

David and Iain would like to thank all of the U14 players for there commitment and efforts over the season. They would like to wish the members bound for the U17 "Good Luck" and to the others KEEP TRAINING AND PRACTICE THESE BALL SKILLS!!!!

U14 Leauge Match

Sunday4th October

Beauly 5 Kingussie 0

The game started at 1130 and Beauly dominated the first half with Ewan Campbell going close on numerous occasions with some well struck shots. The deadlock was broken when Sandy Elrick scored with a well taken goal from close range. This was the half time score. The second half started with Beaulys older players strength showing through. Breon Bailey made it two and then three nil with well taken goals. The fourth goal was the pick of the match when Ryan MacKay set of on a run beating three defenders before slipping the ball cooly past the Kingussie keeper. With the game almost over Kieran MacTavish added a fifth with a finish from close in.

 

U14 WIN KEN ROSS TROPHY

AT INVERNESS SIXES

On Saturday 3rd October our U14 six a side team took part in the Inverness sixes. Due to the change of dates etc there were only two other teams entered Inverness and Kingussie. The final was contested between Beauly and Kingussie. Beauly won the final one nil with Lewis Ross scoring the winner and Calum Morrison picked up the trophy for man of the tournament. WELL DONE TO THE TEAM this is the third year in a row that the trophy has been taken back to Braeview Park!!!!

Sunday 31st May 2009

Beauly 2 Newtonmore 6

This match took place in glorious sunshine with the temp. reaching 24 degrees!!

Beauly started the match strongly and had Newtonmore on the back foot. With 8 mins on the clock Shaun Dunsmore played a long crossfield ball to Robbie Brindle who finished well from 10 yards. The rest of the first half belonged to Beauly  with Andrew Morrison and Sandy Elrick going close but they could not add to their one goal.

After the interval Beauly made  it two nil when Andrew Morrison  used his strength to hold off the Newtonmore full back and goalkeeper to slot home. Beauly held onto this lead for 16 mins of the second half and then the hard running and heat began to tell on their midfield. Newtonmore pressed forward and scored two quick goals to tie the score at 2-2. Newtonmore had their tails up and began to find lots of space in the midfield area. Their full centre scored two further goals from mid  and their forwards added another two before the final whistle.

Beaulys best players on the day were Liam Symonds , Daryl Anderson , Shaun Dunsmore and Josh Grant

Sunday 17th May 2009 at Newtonmore.

Newtonmore 1 Beauly 2

Beauly made the trip down to Newtonmore looking for their first win in the league.

The game was played in glorious sun shine but with a strong wind blowing down the pitch. Beauly started with the wind in their favour and pushed Newtonmore back into their half for most of the half. Beauly missed a number of chances before Sandy Elrick gave them the lead with a low shot from the right.

Newtonmore opened the second half brightly and with the wind at their backs were using the long ball to good effect. Beaulys defence held strong with Liam Symonds , Josh Grant and Andrew Morrison putting in some big tackles and clearances to keep them in the game.

With 15 second half minutes gone the Newtonmore centre lofted in a high shot which landed in the Beauly net to make it 1-1. This spurred Beauly on they dug deep and despite the defence being under severe pressure. Beth MacDonald sent a long pass through the centre which Sandy Elrick sent scorching into the top of the net from 15 metres out.  The Beauly defence held out for the remaing 5 minutes to record a win in Newtonmore.

Beaulys best performances came from Sandy Elrick , Liam Symonds , Andrew Morrison and Josh Grant.

Friday 15th of May 2009 at Braeview Park

Beauly 1 Caberfeidh 1

The match opened brightly with end to end stuff despite the strong wind. Beauly took the lead after 8 minutes when a low drive from Calum Morrison was well saved by the Caberfeidh goalkeeper the ball broke to Lewis Ross in the D and he swept it home. Despite some good play and a strong wind at their backs Beauly could not add to this score.

Caberfeidh started the second half strongly and put the Beauly defence under pressure. Beaulys goalkeeper Josh Grant making his debut at this level pulled off some excellent saves to keep his team in the match.

With six minutes to go Caberfeidh had a corner it was knocked in low the Beauly defence failed to clear it and Caberfeidhs Jamie Matheson hit the equaliser. This was the final score.

Beaulys best players in this match were Josh Grant , Ryan MacKay and Ewan Campbell.
